1. Introduction

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the services provided by SS Electrical Engineering Ltd ("Company", "we", "our", or "us"), a company registered in England and Wales. By engaging our services or using our website, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

2. Services

SS Electrical Engineering Ltd provides fire and security systems services including but not limited to:

  • Fire alarm system design, installation, and maintenance
  • Emergency lighting installation and testing
  • CCTV and access control systems
  • Intruder alarm systems
  • Fire extinguisher supply and servicing
  • Fixed suppression systems
  • Other life safety systems

3. Quotations and Pricing

All quotations provided are valid for 30 days from the date of issue unless otherwise stated. Prices quoted are exclusive of VAT unless explicitly stated. We reserve the right to adjust pricing if:

  • Site conditions differ from those described or surveyed
  • Additional work is required beyond the original scope
  • There are changes to material costs or regulations

4. Payment Terms

Unless otherwise agreed in writing:

  • Payment is due within 30 days of invoice date
  • For larger projects, staged payments may be required
  • We reserve the right to charge interest on overdue payments at 8% above the Bank of England base rate
  • We accept payment by bank transfer or company cheque

5. Warranties and Guarantees

We provide the following warranties on our work:

  • 12-month warranty on all installation workmanship
  • Manufacturer warranties apply to all equipment supplied
  • Warranties are void if systems are tampered with or serviced by unauthorised personnel

6. Client Responsibilities

The client agrees to:

  • Provide safe and reasonable access to the site
  • Ensure the site is ready for work to commence
  • Provide accurate information about existing systems and building structure
  • Maintain systems in accordance with our recommendations and relevant regulations
  • Arrange regular servicing and maintenance as required by law

7. Compliance and Regulations

All work is carried out in accordance with relevant British Standards, including BS 5839 (Fire Detection and Alarm Systems), BS 5266 (Emergency Lighting), and other applicable regulations. We are BAFE SP203-1 registered and SafeContractor approved. Clients are responsible for ensuring their premises comply with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • Our liability is limited to the value of the contract
  • We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses
  • We are not liable for losses arising from client failure to maintain systems
  • Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence

9. Cancellation

Cancellation of confirmed work must be made in writing. Cancellations made less than 48 hours before scheduled work may incur a cancellation fee. For bespoke equipment orders, cancellation may not be possible once orders have been placed with suppliers.

10. Intellectual Property

All designs, drawings, and specifications produced by SS Electrical Engineering Ltd remain our intellectual property until full payment is received. These documents may not be reproduced or shared with third parties without our written consent.

11. Force Majeure

We shall not be liable for any delay or failure to perform our obligations due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, war, terrorism, pandemic, strikes, or supply chain disruptions.

12. Dispute Resolution

In the event of a dispute, both parties agree to attempt to resolve the matter through good faith negotiation. If resolution cannot be reached, disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

13. Amendments

We reserve the right to amend these Terms at any time. Updated Terms will be posted on our website. Continued use of our services following any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
